Debbie Does Music: Delaney Gibson video premiere “La Di Da”

Last Thursday night the house was packed at Zoey’s Cafe in Ventura. We were there to see the premiere of the lovely Delaney Gibson’s video “La Di Da”. Directed by Travis Mauck and produced by Matt Holwick, this whimsical video about falling in love is just adorable and fun!
Not only did we get to see the video, Gibson performed some new and old songs in a full concert. This was her last show in the VC for quite awhile. We’ll miss her brightness on the west coast while she tries her skills in the Big Apple. I hope she doesn’t fall in love there, we want her back!

This night started off great too! Joshua Bartholomew opened for Gibson. This guy has an amazing voice and you definitely need to check him out. He has a great story too! He went to Nashville to check out the music scene, and never went back (to Canada). This month he’s in California and he’s got that itch again. He may be calling Cali home soon! Let’s hope! He’s got some great tunes and sounds like some great opportunities in the works too!

After Bartholomew played for us for awhile, he and Gibson played a couple of tunes together, one from her album, Hurricane and Forget Me Nots, Rain or Shine, which they never actually performed together before. Today’s technology allowed the duo to harmonize in two different studios, Gibson in LA, and Bartholomew in Nashville. The tracks fit together perfectly on the album, but the live version was full of passion, something I love about live music.

Gibson was backed on stage by her band, and in the audience by her devoted friends and family. The band, consisting of some of Ventura’s best talent included Joe Baugh, guitar; Sam Bolle, bass; Tony Cicero, drums; and Laura Mihalka, cello. This group just make Gibson, who sounds amazing solo, sound even better with a layering of great sounds.
Well, on with the show, check out the video La Di Da, and let me know what you think!
